Task 6: Operating Systems

TASK: Workshop: try out 4 or 5 of the BASH commands listen in Presentation part 2 above, and post either screenshots or copied text to your blog.

as the task stated, i was suppose to use various BASH commands within a linux CLI.

To save time, and the hassle to install linux for this, i have used wind-bash (allows you to use bash within windows) to help me complete this task:

what i did:

  • cd H:/
    • to access my H Drive
  • ls
    • to list the files and folders in that directory
  • mkdir Wilson
    • to create a folder named ‘Wilson’ in that directory
  • cd H:/Wilson
    • to move/access that folder in the directory
  • touch Random.txt
    • to create a txt file named ‘Random’ in that directory
  • ls
    • to list the files and folders in that directory
  • echo “HELLO PEOPLE” > Random.txt
    • to insert the text “HELLO PEOPLE” in the file ‘Random’
  • cat Random.txt
    • to view what text was in that ‘Random’ file
